Join us for the SIM Monthly Meeting at the Citrus Club to hear Alex Soderstrom and Jan Edwards discuss what's on the horizon for Orlando in the innovative startup space.
Alex Soderstrom began covering Central Florida technology companies and trends for Orlando Business Journal in 2019. That technology coverage has since expanded to include Orlando Inno, an online publication that covers local startups and innovation through daily news stories, a twice-weekly newsletter and live events. Alex graduated with a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Georgia and also writes about Central Florida residential real estate and manufacturing.
“Start-Up Girl.” The nickname given to Jan Edwards in one of the
many phases of her career might still be one of the most apt ways of
describing the leader, business owner, philanthropist and innovator.
With decades of experience in sales, including over 15 years in
leadership at Bright House Networks/Time Warner, she had already
established herself as a sales and communications expert when she
began the steps toward her next journey: Paving The Way
Foundation. Paving the Way is committed being a fierce disruption in
the cycle of child trafficking around the globe. This is accomplished
through educational programs that empower communities to break
the cycle. Paving the Way has educated over 17,000 youth and
adults using their award-winning film, Trapped in the Trade, which
won Best Script in the London Indie Short Film Festival and was
featured on CNN.
Ms. Edwards is a strategic thought leader and has won awards for
her leadership, innovation and creative abilities, including, Orlando
Magazines Women of The Year, Women on the Rise Community
Impact Leader and United Abolitionists NGO Leader of the Year, for
her organizations work.
Recently Jan’s mobile app concept won Start Up Weekend and their
prototype is currently in development.
